2016 European Illustration Award: A portrait of a mother from a child's perspective

A mother's love is as delicate and sensitive as flowers.
She is a whole garden.
Through the lyric poetry of plants and animals,
Showing the tenderness and wildness of childhood,
A forest of maternal love with thousands of faces.

A mother has a heart that swings between day and night.
Shining like a bright moon,
Dark and deep like a crow's wings.
The smallest thing could cause her to burst into wild laughter.
And a rain of sadness.

Mother is a warrior, a bird,
She is a she-wolf who lives by instinct;
She and the child correspond and restrain each other.

During the day, she fights for herself or her children,
When she was able to spread her wings and fly to the fertile forest,
But I risk getting lost on my way home...
This kind of her,
Sometimes it's my mother, sometimes it's myself.

Sincerely recommended by writers and artists

This is a book I want to recommend to all the female friends I know (including my mother and myself), especially mothers. This beautiful book lets moms know that the woman in them can pursue her true self without feeling guilty, and lets the little girl in them know that they have never been abandoned by their mother. ——Lin Weiyun (writer and translator)

I like the way this book describes a mother’s love from a child’s perspective. It is poetic and melodious, with clear understanding and gentle experience. ——Liu Shuhui (writer)

Every picture painted by Emmanuelle is filled with the energy of nature, and on every page you can feel the beauty that the world in her eyes brings to mankind. Although we as mothers have to hide ourselves most of the time, this book reminds us that we should release our conflicting emotions in a timely manner and have positive expressions and resolutions. ——Rae Zhou (artist)

Through the lyrical poetry of plants and animals, a forest of maternal love with a thousand faces is created. We see the power of love in the picture, and the gentle intensity that can remove all doubts and anxieties. A portrait of a mother, a child's perspective, this book offers an accessible yet profound poem that can be given to everyone. ——French Children’s Bookstores Association
