"I really want to make friends, but I'm just too shy." Shasha is invited to a friend's house, and he's so, so nervous, clinging tightly to his mom (Mom, can you not leave and just stay with me forever?). His friend sets out various games—a kitchen, music, dancing—to entertain him. Shasha really wants to join in, but he doesn't know how to respond to the invitation to "play together"... This picture book is about children's social anxiety and introverted emotions. If you have a child who sometimes feels at a loss, it's okay, you're not the only one who feels nervous. This gentle story embraces the sensitive feelings of introverted children.
The School Book
"Is this book ready for school?" Instead of directly asking a child who might already be nervous, this book encourages interaction with the child. Through a series of questions and answers, as you ask the book "Are you ready?", you can process the emotions of preparing for school together and preview what to expect at school. Filled with companionship, it helps children overcome separation anxiety about going to school through interaction. We are ready!
