About the Author

Iwai Toshio

Born in 1962, multimedia artist. In 1985, when he was studying at the Tsukuba University School of Art, he won the grand prize at the 17th Contemporary Japanese Art Exhibition, becoming the youngest winner in Japan. Since then, he has participated in many art exhibitions at home and abroad, and published various works that can interact with the audience, attracting attention. He has participated in the production of video exhibitions such as "My Neighbor Totoro" and "Upwelling Currents" at the Ghibli Museum in Miyazaki's Mitaka Forest.

Iwai Toshio recalled: When he was a child, his mother said to him one day: "I won't buy you any toys anymore." From then on, she gave him various work tools instead of toys. From then on, he developed an interest in making various things. Now Toshio Iwai is the father of two daughters. He hopes to use picture book creation and blogging to find more fun between parents and children and share it with more people.
