Born in Tokyo in 1945, he graduated from the Industrial Design Department of the Kuwasawa Design Institute in Japan. He is the most creative picture book writer in the Japanese children's book industry. He broke the common sense in coloring and design of children's books, and won the favor of readers of all ages with his original and innovative style. He has won many awards including the Bologna International Children's Original Painting Exhibition Award and the Japan Sankei Children's Publishing Award.
