A parenting diary with a new graphic narrative.

Recording the sweetness and bitterness of two generations of mothers

The birth of a child is also the mother’s second life

From the birth of a child to the full moon;
From crawling to taking baby's first steps;
From the first birthday to the first day of kindergarten...
At every stage of a child's growth,
In fact, it is also a small milestone in a mother’s parenting journey.

Through the diary of illustrator Lin Lianen's mother,
Looking back on my childhood,
And count every moment of becoming a mother.

Highlights of this book

Lin Lian-en is a new generation illustrator in Taiwan. As a picture book writer and a new mother, she finds healing in drawing and has re-examined the relationship between herself and her mother. Therefore, she hopes to independently create a picture book on the theme of "mother".

Comparing the diaries of two generations of mothers, one in 1985 and the other in 2018, it shows the differences in customs, concepts and mentalities between the two generations, but the feeling of caring for children remains the same. In addition to detailing the child's growth stages, the text also delicately depicts the changes in a woman's mood after becoming a mother.

"As a mother, only when the lamp in the room at night casts a golden prairie, and I pick up my pen and move forward in the golden prairie, can I find my own little world. Dedicated to every mother in dire straits."

About the Writer/Illustrator

Lin Lianen

Born and raised in Taiwan. After graduating from university, I worked as a character and art designer at Ou Animation Company for more than a year, and only started drawing after I left. He is good at using acrylic, water-based crayons and collage to create. The content of the creations is mostly based on current feelings or life experiences. I like children's illustrations, cats and dogs, old things, afternoon thunderstorms, and watching dramas. He has won the 2014 American 3X3 Contemporary Illustration Award, the 2015 and 2018 Bologna Children's Illustration Award, and the 2021 Bologna Book Fair Lagazzi Fiction First Prize. She is usually a dull and gentle illustrator, but at night and on holidays when her children are at home, she turns into a crazy mother.
