You guys can argue, I just want to quietly appreciate it - Another Summer Reading

Diving into the bottom of the pool to find coolness, we can choose a different scenery.
For all those who want to roam freely in the world

This wordless picture book is also about swimming pools and summer, but it is not noisy or hot at all. It is a beautiful creation that can take readers away from the noise and dive into the deepest water (and the bottom of the heart) to swim freely and leisurely.

You guys can argue, I just want to enjoy it quietly Author/illustrator: Lee Ji-hyun 이지현 Translator: Chen Yiyi Publisher: Olin *Wordless picture books |
A wordless picture book that won many international awards upon publication
The author, Lee Ji-hyun, graduated from the Korea Institute of Illustration and Design. This is his first picture book and a wonderful work that won many international awards as soon as it was published: The New York Times 100 Best Books, the American Library Association's Best Children's Book, the American Society of Illustrators' Original Art Exhibition Gold Medal... I particularly like the author's light colored pencil strokes, which are cool and refreshing to read in summer, and seem to evoke some new ideas and thoughts.
There are no words in the picture book, and the reading rhythm and atmosphere are completely controlled by the images . The author uses black and white to paint the noisy and crowded crowd by the pool (with ferocious faces like clowns), and then uses bright colors to depict the world at the bottom of the pool that is far away from the chaos, vast and full of surprises. This is an "adult picture book" that can bring about reflection and change when we read it ourselves. It is also a wonderful story that allows us to "freely create our own version" when reading it with our children.
Follow the little boy into the swimming pool and dive deep into the bottom. Although the picture book has no sound, you can follow the author's illustrations and "splash !" jump into the completely silent underwater world.

The boy in the story is not always alone. He meets another girl at the bottom of the pool who also chooses to stay away from the noise.
Two "same species" wearing goggles for deep diving are swimming leisurely in the water (perhaps they are considered "aliens" to the people on the surface of the water?). Boys and girls do not need to use words to communicate. They can appreciate the world under the pool from a tacit understanding and a comfortable distance, which the people around the pool cannot appreciate.
A quiet, gentle and silent romance.

At the end of the story, the boy and girl still need to return to the poolside.
The pool was still crowded with noisy people. The boy chose a quiet corner and reached out to pull the girl ashore. They took off their goggles together and gave each other a smile that said "I understand you, you understand me."
You guys can quarrel, I just want to appreciate it quietly. What do you read in such a different story? Are you one of the people crowded by the pool, or are you the "oddball" boy or girl diving into the water?
___
Read the little Easter egg carefully: the boy by the pool was initially drawn in black and white like everyone else. When he left the crowd and jumped into the water, he really became himself and got the color! This book is so peaceful and beautiful. As I read it, I felt refreshed from the bottom of my heart. It seemed as if I had found some healing, self-realization, and more.
I think this is a book that will give you different feelings when you read it at different times. We invite you to read this quiet and wise wordless picture book on hot days.
